Engineers for qualified Medical Device Development
Technical Innovations for Medicine
The international Master's degree programme equips the students for engineering innovative medical devices. Furthermore students gain information how to place them into markets.
Therefor students deepen fundamentals of engineering and science in essential areas of medical technologies and can choose 3 (out of 4) elective modules: Electronics, Biomechanics, Medical Device Software, Materials Technology. These are enhanced by courses considering Systems Engineering, Medicine and Clinical Trials and Regulatory Affairs.
Within the Project Work and Master's Thesis, students can apply their skills within companies, research institutes or hospitals to develop, produce or integrate modern medical devices or products. As part of the final examination, students have to present their conclusions underpinned by theoretical knowledge and their own rationale.
Graduates are qualified as engineers with the ability to develop medical devices and products within the regulatory framework of European markets and the ability to consider FDA regulations. Application areas are medical imaging systems, assisted medical robotics, pacemakers, bionic prostheses, artificial intelligence based support systems and many more.
